MASSDEVICE ON CALL — Technology giant Sony Corp. (TYO:6758) filed patents this year for "SmartWig" technology, described as everything from standard health monitoring to a "presentation aid," MobiHealthNews reported.
The device should be able to monitor brain waves, pulse, blood pressure, temperature and more, and the wig may be fitted with cameras that allow wearers to communicate and even laser pointers for presentation purposes.
"Sony emphasizes the fact that the SmartWig’s sensors will be hidden, making the device more appealing to users," according to the report. And since the device is worn on the head, an area that people instinctively protect, the device is relatively safe from harm.
